Lush Life

Romance is mush

Stifling those who strive

I’ll live a lush life, in some small dive

And there I’ll be, while I rot

With the rest of those whose lives are lonely,

Listening Now: Father John Misty

I’ve been listening to this album since it’s release in February of last year, but rekindled my love for Father John Misty again recently.

He will be in Santa Ana, CA at the end of the month, March 30 and 31 at the Observatory. Both nights are already sold out…but I’m not giving up hope for a way to make it happen.

Here’s a link to the full album stream.

Sound of Music Tribute with Gaga

In case you missed the Oscars the other night, here’s Queen Gaga performing a Sound Of Music Tribute.

Lady Gaga performed for the first time at the Oscars on Sunday in a special 50th anniversary tribute to “The Sound of Music.” The Robert Wise film, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, came out in 1965 and won five Academy Awards.

The Sound of Music was an important movie throughout my childhood, I was ecstatic to see Lady Gaga perform this… and then Julie Andrews joining her at the end. Perfect!

I am so loving Gaga’s new aesthetic: glamorous and elegant. The Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga collaboration has been on repeat in my apartment. She’s also recently engaged to actor Taylor Kinney, you go girl!

Spotlight: Dre Green, Only One

Listen up! Chicago, this babe is in your backyard…

This week, Dre Green released her debut EP, Only One. Dreamy vocals blended with poppy, r&b beats, reverberating whispers, eerie growls…she even raps a little in “Guarded.” There’s so much going on in the album and it’s all just so great.

Her mesmerizing voice paired with kick-ass production work from fellow Chicagoans Jeremiah Meece (Lo-motion, The-Drum), The GTW and Supreme Cuts… it’s everything right now.

The track “Neymar Night” is one of my favorites, sexy and smooth, with the perfect input of voice quips, “Really? OK.” …and that G-major trail of at the end, totally seals the deal.

Stream and download the album on Bandcamp.

You can catch Dre Green performing a DJ Set this coming Monday, Aug. 25 at The Burlington Bar, 10pm.
